The Dominican Republic shares with Haiti their discovering
by Christopher Colombo. Saint Domingue had become a prominent
Carribean tourist region prior to Cuba, even though monuments
of conquest and colonization were less numerous there. Thus,
we do not visit Saint Domingue for its architectonic monuments,
however for its natural treasures, for hundreds of kilometres
of beaches with white sand, being bordered by coconut palms,
much sunshine, and for picturesque fishing villages, feel
of “merengue” (a local dance), and plenty of
rum’s drinks, of course.
What fascinates you first is subtle and sweet exotic feel,
full of bright smiles, warm eyes, diversified multicoloured
impressions, pleasant moments full of sensuality and nice
local music….
Spare some time for a pleasure trip inland. You will discover
small fishing ports and almost inaccessible little villages,
beautiful mountains favourable to adventurous sports and
you will admire numberless wonders of nature.
LAS TERRENAS is situated on the Samana Peninsula (60 km
in length and 20 km in width) at the north-east of the Dominican
Republic. There you can admire a diverse landscape of rare
beauty: splendid hills, flood of tropical vegetation and
the most beautiful beaches.
Range of mountains, the Samana, being situated at the altitude
of 600 m above sea level, give the strong intensity to the
landscape with their unforgettable panorama and the distinctive
sheer relief sloping down to the sea. Santa Barbara de Samana,
the regional centre, Sanches, being placed at the end of
the bay Samana, Las Caleras at the east end and LAS TERRENAS
on the Atlantic coast may be considered to be most important
localities there.
LAS TERRENAS, the Dominican “Saint Tropez”,
is a little town embosomed with coconut palms, which profits
from kilometres of wild beaches being considered to be the
most attractive in the country. There you can enjoy rhythm
of an easy but fast life. Magnificent warmth of Dominican
people invite you to enjoy life in tropics and to discover

In LAS TERRENAS you will appreciate a feel of sympathy
ruling between Dominicans and incomers, who were so much
attracted by the region beauties that they have been still
living there.
